About Alana:

Alana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work in 2016, and started her career in intimate partner violence outreach/counselling. In that role, Alana leaned on her passion for trauma work, healthy relationships, and advocacy while supporting various individuals overcome and heal from abusive relationships. Alana took a number of additional trainings around trauma- and-violence informed care, and has been very passionate throughout her career about the need for safety and caution around re-traumatization. Alana also has a love of brain science, holistic health, energy healing and psychedelic therapies to support the complex challenges and unique needs of individuals in their healing.

Alana further developed skills in trauma work, depression, ADHD skill coaching, anxiety/OCD, and family therapy through work in foster family support and children’s mental health. Alana is community minded and thrives on relationship-building and learning alongside others, having participated in the Reconciliation Saskatoon Committee, served as a member of the Saskatoon Women’s Community Coalition, is a supporter of Saskatoon Pride, and has connected in various ways with PATHS, Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre Clothing Depot, Saskatoon Sexual Health, OUT Saskatoon, and the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Center.

Alana is a lifelong learner and continues to take trainings and courses that keep her up-to-date on the best practices for supporting clients with trauma, and building healthy relationships. Alana has also learned many lessons through experience, working to navigate her own traumas, continually explore self-discovery, and develop healthier relationships on her journey through life. In many ways, Alana has always been a social worker- having always carried empathy, intuition, and compassion throughout her life, which has made her the friend everyone can share their troubles with, knowing there is no fear of judgment.

When not in the office, Alana is at home with her blended family and multiple pets which at this time include two step-children (21 and 19), and two biological children (15 and 9), two cats, and a business of ferrets. Alana loves connecting with friends, family, cooking, and doing anything creative. Alana’s soul is most alive when she is near a body of water, listening to the sound of her children laughing, or making Instagram reels of her ferrets getting into trouble.
