About

Shané is an Indigenous/Jamaican Master's Clinician student from Sipekne'katik, Nova Scotia. Before beginning her Masters in Psychology, she worked as a Registered Social Worker where she found passion in the therapeutic side of things. She has worked for non-profit agencies, and currently works with Regina Catholic Schools as a Family Support Coordinator. She works with individuals, couples, groups and families to reconnect and heal together by exploring their history and uncovering patterns that sometimes, they aren't aware of.  Shané currently lives in Regina, and is offering limited virtual sessions and in-person sessions in Saskatoon once a week.

Shané has been practicing social work since 2015 and holds a Bachelor of Social work, Certificate of Indigenous Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Prior to this year, Shane was a registered Social Worker, but because of her new journey on her Master’s degree, she is now a student member of the Canadian Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Shane uses a holistic approach to therapy that has been influenced by her Indigenous background. Shane’s personality influences her approach to therapy through the incorporation of humour, empowerment, advocacy and authenticity. Shane views respect, empathy and open-mindedness as the foundation of the therapeutic relationship which she brings into each session.

Shane believes that she has been called to be a therapist because she loves watching people find themselves, heal and create changes. She chose to be a therapist because she wants people to believe in themselves the way Shane believes in everyone. Shane is a mom to two beautiful children who she believes have saved her. Shane’s children give her life meaning and purpose, as well as remind her to live each moment in the present. Shane is passionate about hip hop, R&B and rap music. Shane believes that we are the experts of our own lives, and only we know what is best for us. Shane takes that belief and incorporates it into the therapeutic process, helping clients to live their best life and to be the best version of themselves.
